The group I
am currently working with will be the most difficult to leave. I am working
with a phenomenal group of parents of high school seniors planning the senior
banquet. There are some parents that attend the meetings occasionally, but there is also a
core group who are there at every meeting planning and executing. What makes
the core group effective is communication is clear, there is commitment to
completing the project, regular attendance and the people are genuine and easy
to get along with.
I think the
adjournment of the group will be at the senior banquet, which will be the last
time we see each other. Some group members will be leaving the school, due to
their graduate being the youngest child, some will leave due to relocation and
some will stay in the country. During
the banquet we will celebrate our seniors and congratulate each other on a well-planned
event.
It is
important for the team to be allowed to celebrate the success of the project
and capture best practices for future use (Abudi, 2010). Also, the team should be given the chance to
say good-bye to provide closure to the project and established friendships.
Hopefully, I
will culminate the completion of my graduate degree with attending the
graduation ceremony and meeting, face to face, some of the people I have
studied with.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI believe for many the adjourning stage is very difficult especially when you have become so involved in the educational growth and development of others. As we each continue on our path towards our specific goals I believe we take a portion of all of our classmates with us. We have spent time learning from each other and learning with each other. For myself I would like to say thank you Mary for the many interesting pieces and bits that I have gleaned from you through the class posts and these blogging assignments. You and many others have been a great help to me in many ways.
What a wonderful experience to have with working with seniors on their banquet. Moments like this would make it difficult to say good bye as I am sure that you have come across a group of wonderful teenagers throughout this experience. To be able to witness one chapter of their life closing and watching a new one begin must be a wonderful feeling. I would not be surprised if a few parents shed tears at the banquet.

ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI am sure that your experience in working with seniors on their banquet would be unforgettable moments in your life, and it would be very hard to leave this group and say good-bye after the success that has been accomplished. I really hope that during your graduation ceremony you would have the chance to meet some of the people you have studied with and share the joy of earning the master degree with them together. Thank you for sharing
